LaSalle squeaks by London, 6-4Vollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Sep 11, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the LaSalle Vipers and the London Nationals was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end LaSalle emerged with a 6-4 win. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nathan Savage's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Vipers were led by Savage, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Savage scored 15:30 into the third period to make the score 5-4 LaSalle. Devon Paliani provided the assist. LaSalle forced London goalie Nick Dampier to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. LaSalle also got points from Mark Manchurek, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Aaron Luchuk, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Paliani, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Andrew Burns, who also finished with one goal and one assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Brendan McCann as well. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Austin Hall, who had two and Nathan Veres, Bryce Mayea, Ben Hanus, and Connor Rosaasen, who contributed one a piece. The Nationals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Vipers to score on any of their five power plays. London was helped by Jeff Bauer, who had one goal and one assist. Bauer scored 3:04 into the second period to make the score 1-0 London. London additionally got points from Paul Hopkins, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Anthony Kotsvos also scored for London. In addition, London received assists from Matt Fuller, who had one. Cameron Zanussi recorded 23 saves for LaSalle. The Vipers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. LaSalle ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Manchurek was ejected from the game. Nick Dampier made 39 saves for the Nationals on 45 shots. London incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Nationals, Bauer was ejected from the game. |
