Ancaster rips Buffalo, 10-3

The Ancaster Avalanche had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-3 win over the Buffalo Regals.

Jake Milligan had two goals to lead Ancaster to victory. Milligan's tallies came at 19:35 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Ancaster and on the power play 21 seconds into the second to make the score 4-1 Ancaster.

The Avalanche's penalty kill excelled, as Ancaster gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The Avalanche were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. Ancaster had been averaging 26.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Avalanche bested their season scoring average. Ancaster averages 3.4 goals per game. The Avalanche got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Ancaster additionally got points from Eric Eustace, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Michael Pollice, who also registered one goal and one assist, Elijah Williams, who also had one goal and one assist, and Harrison Domagala, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Ancaster included Luke Zupan, who had one and Zach Niemanen, who had three. Other players who recorded assists for Ancaster were Blake Luscombe, who had two, Ryan Lewis, who had three, Jake Bain, who had four, and Dustin Chenier, Max Balinson, and Christopher Klack, who each chipped in one.

Buffalo forced Ancaster goalie Blake Richard to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Regals were led by Matthew Shumate, who finished with one goal and one assist. Shumate scored 7:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Cox picked up the assist. Colin Farell also scored for Buffalo. More assists for Buffalo came via Justin Andriaccio, Christopher Moses, and Luke Meyer, who each chipped in one.

The Avalanche's Richard stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Ancaster registered two goals on six power play opportunities. For the Avalanche, Luscombe and Cole Nagy were ejected from the contest. Matthew Goss rejected 20 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Regals incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
