Leamington blows out Sarnia, 7-2

Kyle Shaw was all over the ice for the Leamington Flyers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Leamington's 7-2 win over the Sarnia Legionnaires.

Shaw found the back of the net on the power play 5:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Leamington and again while 17:13 into the first to make the score 3-0 Leamington.

The Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Sarnia to score on any of its four power plays. The Legionnaires were unable to stop Leamington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 58 shots on goal.

Leamington also got points from David Dalby, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Leamington also had goals scored by Kyle Quick, who had two and Colin Moore and Nathan Opblinger, who each put in one. In addition, Leamington received assists from Ryan Muzzin, who had two and Blaine Bechard, Nicklas Pleshakov, Jared Dennis, Mitchell Amante, Cale Allen, Chris Scott, and Graham Kelsey, who contributed one a piece.

Sarnia's offense operated below it season average. The Legionnaires average 4.5 goals per game. Sarnia's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Legionnaires finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Sarnia was helped by Riley Roberts, who racked up one goal. Roberts scored 9:02 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Leamington. Hunter Tyczynski picked up the assist. Sarnia also got a goal from Jordan Fogarty as well. More assists for Sarnia came via Riley Babkirk, who had one.

Austyn Roudebush made 26 saves for Leamington on 28 shots. The Flyers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sean Parker recorded 51 saves for the Legionnaires.
