Huge game by Kell boosts Missouri over Quad City, 5-2

Trevor Kell had two goals and one assist to lead the Missouri Mavericks to a 5-2 victory over the Quad City Mallards.

Kell found the back of the net 6:12 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Missouri and again while on the power play 2:40 into the third to make the score 4-2 Missouri.

Missouri put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Quad City to score on any of its five power plays.

Andrew Courtney also scored for Missouri. In addition, Missouri received assists from Dave Pszenyczny, Matt Stephenson, and Sebastien Thinel, who contributed one a piece and Eric Castonguay, John-Scott Dickson, and Colt King, who each chipped in two.

The Mallards struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Mavericks to score two power play goals on three chances. Quad City's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 13 shots on net during the game.

The Mallards were helped by Chris Greene, who grabbed one goal. Greene scored 16:19 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Missouri. Nick Grasso assisted on the tally. Quad City also got a goal from Thomas Frazee as well. More assists for Quad City came via Jeff Lee, who had one and Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, who had two.

Missouri's Shane Owen stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Mavericks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Thomas Heemskerk made 24 saves for Quad City on 29 shots. The Mallards incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
