Brampton survives Allen comeback, wins 4-3

The Allen Americans tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Brampton Beast would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Erik Spady put Brampton up 4-2 in the third period, but Allen pulled to within one on Alex Lavoie's tally 19:42 into the third period.

Jason Pitton was all over the ice for the Beast, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Pitton scored 11:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Brent Vandehogen picked up the assist.

The 29 shots that Brampton put on net surpassed the Beast's average of 25.8 shots per game this season.

Brampton also got points from Vandehogen, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Rob Collins also scored for Brampton. More assists for Brampton came via Matt Caruana, Calin Wild, and Brett Smith, who contributed one a piece.

The Americans' offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 32.2 shots per game they average.

Allen was led by Jonathan Lessard, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Lessard scored on the power play 1:55 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Brampton. The Americans had gotten the advantage when Brampton's Andrew Darrigo was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Tyler Ludwig provided the assist. Allen additionally got points from Lavoie, who also registered one goal and one assist. Allen also got a goal from Spencer Asuchak as well. In addition, Allen received assists from Ross Rouleau, who had one and Jarret Lukin, who had two.

Kristofer Westblom made 37 saves for the Beast on 40 shots. Brampton totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
