Stittsville Royals vanquishes Renfrew Timberwolves in shootout, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Stittsville Royals defeated Renfrew Timberwolves in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Stittsville Royals got a shootout goal from Kevin Groulx.

Groulx had one goal and two assists to lead Stittsville Royals. Groulx scored 15:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stittsville Royals. Derek Varrin picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, Renfrew Timberwolves was paced by Colin Bradbury, who had two goals. Bradbury scored the first of his two goals at 19:08 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Scott Conroy provided the assist. Bradbury's next tally made the score 3-3 with 1:50 left in the third period. Renfrew Timberwolves had gained a power play chance when Blake Martyniuk was whistled for high sticking. Dylan Zavitskie picked up the assist.

Stittsville Royals' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Stittsville Royals also had goals scored by Steve Genier and Jordan Cale, who scored one goal each.

Renfrew Timberwolves forced Stittsville Royals goalie Patrick Kealey to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Sean Kyte also scored for Renfrew Timberwolves. More assists for Renfrew Timberwolves came via Tanner Smith, who had one and Teddy Suckow, who had two.

Kealey rejected 29 shots on goal for Stittsville Royals. Stittsville Royals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Matt Gagne recorded 23 saves for Renfrew Timberwolves. Renfrew Timberwolves totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Renfrew Timberwolves ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nolan Rook was ejected from the game.
