Perth Blue Wings vanquishes Almonte Thunder in shootout, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Perth Blue Wings defeated Almonte Thunder in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for four attempts between the teams. Perth Blue Wings' other shootout goal was scored by Jimmy Pearson.

Perth Blue Wings forced Almonte Thunder goalie Richard Barr to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Perth Blue Wings was helped by Alex Vala, who had one goal. Vala scored 3:29 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Andrew Davis picked up the assist. Perth Blue Wings also got points from Davis, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Perth Blue Wings also got a goal from Pearson as well. More assists for Perth Blue Wings came via Brock Stashick, Kyle Dowdall, Brett Everson, Jaren Burke, and Blair Barr, who contributed one a piece.

Almonte Thunder put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Perth Blue Wings to score on any of its three power plays. Perth Blue Wings was unable to stop Almonte Thunder from sending pucks towards the net, and Almonte Thunder eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Almonte Thunder was led by Liam Killeen, who racked up one goal and one assist. Killeen scored 17:01 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Almonte Thunder. Andrew Rowbotham provided the assist. Almonte Thunder also had goals scored by Luke Martin and Terry Mallon, who each put in one. In addition, Almonte Thunder received assists from Tyler McKechnie and Conor Rolland, who each chipped in one.

Perth Blue Wings' Cam Lerner stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Perth Blue Wings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Richard Barr made 38 saves for Almonte Thunder on 41 shots. Almonte Thunder incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
