Stittsville Royals falls to Ottawa Canadians after surprising comeback

Ottawa Canadians rallied from three goals down to secure a 5-4 win over Stittsville Royals.

Ottawa Canadians never led in the game until netting the game winner. Ottawa Canadians was down 4-1 after a goal by Stittsville Royals' Robbie Clarkson at 12:03 in the second period. Ottawa Canadians tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Mitch Robertson at 15:04 in the third period. Ottawa Canadians scored the game winner at 17:28 in the third period on a goal by Robertson.

Stephen Fullum was all over the ice for Ottawa Canadians, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Fullum scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:05 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Stittsville Royals. Ottawa Canadians earned a power play opportunity when Mitch Kerwin was put in the box for fighting. Casey Doner provided the assist. Fullum's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Stittsville Royals with 15:05 left in the third period. Connor Devereaux assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:36 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Ottawa Canadians' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Stittsville Royals power plays. Stittsville Royals was unable to stop Ottawa Canadians from sending pucks towards the net, and Ottawa Canadians eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Ottawa Canadians also got a goal from Nick Martin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa Canadians were Nick Izgerean, who had one.

Stittsville Royals was not heavily penalized during the game, and finished with 10 minors and two majors totalling 30 minutes. Stittsville Royals fell short of the 38.0 minutes average penalties per game.

Stittsville Royals was helped by Gord Sinclair, who registered one goal. Sinclair scored 5:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stittsville Royals. Stittsville Royals also got points from Ryan Daniel, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Blake Martyniuk also scored for Stittsville Royals. More assists for Stittsville Royals came via Alex Perrault, who had two and Jermy Nichols and Jake Oliver, who contributed one a piece.

Justin Villeneuve made 22 saves for Ottawa Canadians on 26 shots. Ottawa Canadians totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. For Ottawa Canadians, Mitch Parker and Mike Dagostini were ejected from the contest. Stittsville Royals' Jason Shaw stopped 38 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Team's Ben Wade and Kerwin were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
