Shawville Pontiacs downs Stittsville Royals in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Shawville Pontiacs' Brett Nugent scored 2:05 into overtime to beat Stittsville Royals, 6-5 (OT).

Shawville Pontiacs overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Shawville Pontiacs was down 3-1 after a goal by Stittsville Royals' Joey Laird at 8:20 in the second period. Shawville Pontiacs tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Nugent at 19:59 in the third period.

Shawville Pontiacs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 10 chances. Stittsville Royals was unable to stop Shawville Pontiacs from sending pucks towards the net, and Shawville Pontiacs eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Shawville Pontiacs surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Shawville Pontiacs has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Shawville Pontiacs also got points from Julian Dumont, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Mathew Labrosse, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Tyler MacDonald, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Guillaume Coovi-Sirois also scored for Shawville Pontiacs. Other players who recorded assists for Shawville Pontiacs were Colin Graham and Dylan Scott, who each chipped in one and Lucas Driscoll-McKinnon and Liam Poirier, who contributed two a piece.

Stittsville Royals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Shawville Pontiacs power plays. Stittsville Royals' offense rang up 36 shots on Shawville Pontiacs' net. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Stittsville Royals additionally got points from Knight, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Stittsville Royals also got a goal from Liam Watson as well. In addition, Stittsville Royals received assists from Jordan Cale, who had one and Jermy Nichols, who had two.

Shawville Pontiacs' Trevor McGee stopped 31 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Shawville Pontiacs incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Jason Shaw made 27 saves for Stittsville Royals on 33 shots.
