The Amherstburg Admirals tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Dresden Kings would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. Dresden took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Amherstburg storm back on a Josh Laframboise goal 19:54 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The Kings got the win on the strength of a great game by Dillon Liberty, who had two goals and two assists. Liberty scored the first of his two goals at 8:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dresden. Macks Holmes provided the assist. Liberty's next tally made the score 3-1 Dresden with nine seconds left in the second period. Jeremy Griffore picked up the assist. Dresden excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The Kings were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes. Dresden also got points from Dede Cato, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Derek Daly also scored for Dresden. In addition, Dresden received assists from James Shelton, who had one. Amherstburg also got a goal from Kyler Carter as well. More assists for Amherstburg came via Brett Beattie and Jordan Luciw, who each chipped in one. Brent Paxton rejected 23 shots on goal for Dresden. The Kings registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Arren Romeril recorded 25 saves for the Admirals. Amherstburg incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Admirals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Blake Rutckyj was ejected from the game. |
