Matthew Hebert tallied one point to lead the Essex 73s to a 5-2 victory over the Dresden Kings. Essex put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dresden to score on any of its three power plays. The 73s kept the Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brent Paxton made 47 saves on 52 shots. Essex got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Essex additionally got points from Tyler Raymont, who also had one goal and one assist and Tyler Scott, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Essex also had goals scored by Matthew Rosati and Philip Janikowski, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Jordan Ryan, who had two and Corey Beaulieu, Dylan Solecki, Daniel Slipchuck, Daniel McIntyre, and Dan Mainella, who each chipped in one. Dresden's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Essex power plays. The Kings were led by Kevin Ritzer, who registered one goal. Ritzer scored short handed 7:42 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Essex. Dresden was on a disadvantage when Graham Smyth went off the ice for interference. Jeremy Griffore provided the assist. Dresden also got a goal from David Vergeer as well. In addition, Dresden received assists from James Shelton, who had one. Jacob Kment rejected 20 shots on goal for the 73s. Essex incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
