Amherstburg downs Wallaceburg in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Amherstburg Admirals pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Wallaceburg Lakers on a clutch goal by Mark Sobocan.

Wallaceburg's power play was ineffective against Amherstburg's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Admirals were sparked by Sobocan, who racked up one goal. Sobocan scored 3:25 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Amherstburg. Jordan Luciw picked up the assist.

Amherstburg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Admirals forced the Lakers goalie Joel Sowinski to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Amherstburg also got points from Kyle Morand, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Luciw, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Amherstburg came via Dan Matoski, Blake Rutckyj, and Luke Gagnon, who each chipped in one.

Wallaceburg found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 13 shots against Amherstburg's defense. The Lakers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Wallaceburg was helped by Justin Whitson, who had one goal and one assist. Whitson scored 18:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wallaceburg. Lucais Meyskens assisted on the tally. Wallaceburg additionally got points from Ryan Gruszka, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wallaceburg were Trevor Waller, who had one.

Arren Romeril rejected 11 shots on goal for the Admirals. Amherstburg incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Joel Sowinski made 39 saves for the Lakers on 42 shots.
