Amherstburg survives Dresden comeback, wins 4-3

The Dresden Kings tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Amherstburg Admirals held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Cole Levac put Amherstburg up 4-0 in the second period, but Dresden pulled to within one on Taylor Sisson's tally 12:45 into the third period.

Luke Gagnon was all over the ice for the Admirals, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Gagnon scored 4:16 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Amherstburg. Connor Rennie assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:32 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Amherstburg struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 27 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Amherstburg also got points from Mark Sobocan, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Amherstburg also got a goal from Brett Beattie as well. In addition, Amherstburg received assists from Cody Leeming and Josh Laframboise, who each chipped in one.

The Kings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Amherstburg power plays.

Kevin Ritzer also scored for Dresden. More assists for Dresden came via Macks Holmes, who had three and Dede Cato and Dillon Liberty, who contributed one a piece.

Chris Wallace rejected 22 shots on goal for the Admirals. For Amherstburg, Beattie was ejected from the game. Dresden's starting goalie, Brent Paxton, made 12 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Jamie Morreau, who stopped 14 shots. The Kings ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Team's Alex Ritchie and Wade Esselman were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
