Dresden rolls over Belle River, 8-1

The Dresden Kings had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over the Belle River Canadiens.

Dresden's Brent Paxton was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. Paxton managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.61 prior to the game.

The Kings were led by Owen Welch, who finished with one goal. Welch scored 3:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dresden. Blake Padbury picked up the assist.

Dresden stifled Belle River's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Kings forced the Canadiens goalie Adam Leboeuf to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Dresden outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Kings average 3.3 goals per contest.

Dresden additionally got points from Taylor Sisson, who also registered one goal and two assists, Macks Holmes, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Mike Myers, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kevin Ritzer also scored for Dresden. More assists for Dresden came via Derek Daly, who had two and Jeremy Griffore, Andrew France, and Braedon Nicholson, who each chipped in one.

Belle River's offense operated below it season average. The Canadiens put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Belle River's offense rang up 31 shots on Dresden's net. The Canadiens struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 34 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Belle River was led by Brad Carroll, who scored the team's only goal. Carroll scored 10:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Dresden.

The Kings incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Canadiens' Leboeuf stopped 27 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Belle River registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
