Vaneyk leads Alvinston over Wheatley, 5-2

The Alvinston Flyers' Chad Vaneyk had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Wheatley Sharks.

Vaneyk found the back of the net 1:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alvinston and again while 17:41 into the first to make the score 4-0 Alvinston.

Alvinston managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Flyers finished below its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game.

Others who scored for Alvinston included Karsten Berg, who had one and Dan Warner, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Joe Archer, who had two and Sam MacGee, Tyler Kettler, Dylan Lightfoot, Zach VanEyk, and Sam Vokes, who contributed one a piece.

Wheatley's offense operated below it season average. The Sharks put an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

Wheatley was led by Jon Woelk, who had one goal. Woelk scored 5:32 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Alvinston. Scott Florence provided the assist. Antonio Ciampa also scored for Wheatley. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Jimmy Ciacelli and Lucas Raffoul, who each chipped in one.

Brett Avery made 25 saves for Alvinston on 27 shots. The Flyers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Conner MacKinnon took the loss and made seven saves before being replaced by Everitt Omstead who made 12 saves. The Sharks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
