Rutckyj's big game bests Alvinston in 7-4 Amherstburg winGLJHL Head Office Fri, Oct 25, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amherstburg Admirals' Blake Rutckyj had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-4 win over the Alvinston Flyers. Rutckyj found the back of the net 5:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstburg and again while 9:36 into the first to make the score 3-2 Alvinston.Alvinston was stymied by Amherstburg netminder Klinton Kenney, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Kenney certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.17 entering the contest. The Admirals pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes. Amherstburg made the Flyers' netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 33 shots and forcing 26 saves. Brad Jacklin made 20 stops and Brett Avery made six. The Admirals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Amherstburg bested its season scoring average. The Admirals have scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign. Amherstburg got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.
