Deseronto falls apart in second, loses to Port Hope, 6-0

The Port Hope Panthers used a three-goal second period to put away the Deseronto Storm, 6-0.

Port Hope was boosted by Josh Cole, who turned in a shutout with 35 saves. The solid play of Cole will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.45.

Tyler Davey had two goals and one assist to lead the Panthers. Davey scored the first of his two goals at 18:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Hope. Jared Boomhower assisted on the tally. Davey's next tally made the score 3-0 Port Hope with 11:24 left in the second period. Dylan Baxter picked up the assist.

Port Hope excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Panthers forced Deseronto goalie Brock Tufts to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. Port Hope's goal total was higher than its season average. The Panthers have scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign.

Port Hope additionally got points from Jacob Spicer, who also registered one goal and one assist and Baxter, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Port Hope included Tanner Bowditch and Mike Smith, who scored one goal each. More assists for Port Hope came via Ryan Wilkinson, who had two and Riley Turland, Dan Lagrois, and Brandon Baks, who each chipped in one.

The Storm's offense rang up 35 shots on Port Hope's net.

The Panthers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brock Tufts made 48 saves for Deseronto on 54 shots. The Storm incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
