Brian Bunnett grabbed one point to lead the Picton Pirates to a 2-0 victory over the Amherstview Jets. Picton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Amherstview to score on any of its four power plays. The Pirates' offense operated below they season average. Picton puts an average of 5.8 pucks into the net per game. The Pirates forced the Jets goalie James DAndrea to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Picton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Picton also got a goal from Griffin McCarty as well. In addition, Picton received assists from Jack Davison, Kenny Murduff, Ryan Sizer, and Chris Jones, who contributed one a piece. Amherstview's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Picton power plays. The Jets were held below their usual level of production. Amherstview averages 3.6 goals per game. The Jets' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Amherstview finished with 34 penalty minutes. Adam Wood recorded 24 saves for the Pirates. For Picton, Callum Kennelly (APM) was ejected from the game. DAndrea rejected 42 shots on goal for the Jets. |
