The Port Hope Panthers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Campbellford Rebels on the way to a 3-1 win. Port Hope took a 3-0 lead during the first period, only to have Campbellford storm back on a Andrew Doxtator goal 6:33 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The Panthers were led by goalie Josh Cole, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. Cole certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.0 entering the contest. Port Hope could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game. The Panthers were helped by Chandler Gillespie, who registered one goal. Gillespie scored on the power play 6:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Hope. A cross checking penalty on Matt Scott had put Port Hope on the power play. Dan Lagrois picked up the assist. Tyler Davey also scored for Port Hope. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Jacob Spicer, Dylan Baxter, and Jared Boomhower, who each chipped in one. The Rebels racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. Campbellford surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Rebels' offense operated below they season average. Campbellford puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Rebels had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances. More assists for Campbellford came via Joshua Leavey and Jordan Boutilier, who contributed one a piece. The Panthers registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Port Hope, Ryan Wilkinson was ejected from the game. Kevin Valdes took the loss and made six saves before being replaced by Cole Mahoney who made 12 saves. Campbellford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nick Ferguson was ejected from the game.
