Port Hope survives Picton comeback, wins 5-3

The Picton Pirates almost clawed their way back from a four-goal deficit, but the Port Hope Panthers managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end.

Port Hope led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Panthers' Dan Lagrois's scored at 16:40 in the first period to put Port Hope up 4-0.

The Panthers forced Picton's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 40 shots and forcing 35 saves. Andrew Pearson made 14 stops and Adam Wood made 21. Port Hope managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Panthers finished below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game.

Port Hope was helped by Tyler Jennings, who registered one goal. Jennings scored 18:50 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Port Hope. Port Hope also got a goal from Jared Boomhower as well. More assists for Port Hope came via Jacob Spicer, Dylan Baxter, and Chandler Gillespie, who contributed one a piece.

The Pirates managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Picton wound up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The Pirates' offense operated below they season average. Picton puts an average of 5.9 pucks into the net per game. The Panthers were unable to stop the Pirates from sending pucks towards the net, and Picton eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. The Pirates' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Picton gives up 1.5 goal per game.

Josh Cole recorded 42 saves for Port Hope. The Panthers registered one goal on one power play opportunities. The Pirates registered one goal on one power play opportunities.
