Picton penalty kill dominates in 4-0 defeat of AmherstviewPrince Edward Thu, Jan 09, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Picton Pirates' penalty kill was superb, as Picton survived multiple penalties to beat the Amherstview Jets, 4-0. The Pirates were led by Taylor Brown, who grabbed one goal. Brown scored 5:08 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Picton. Nolan Van Vlack assisted on the tally. Picton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Amherstview to score on any of its six power plays. The Pirates' offense rang up 36 shots on the Jets' net. Picton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game. Picton also got a goal from Evan Greer as well. In addition, Picton received assists from Brandon Peever, Brian Bunnett, Devin McCann, Kenny Murduff, Clint Aussprung, and Chris Jones, who contributed one a piece. Amherstview's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Picton power plays. The Jets were held below their usual level of production. Amherstview puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. Adam Wood rejected 23 shots on goal for the Pirates. Picton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nolan Powers was ejected from the game. Trpy Paquette recorded 32 saves for the Jets. Amherstview incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
