Picton completes comeback, beats Napanee, 4-3Strathcona Paper Tue, Dec 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Picton Pirates rallied from three goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Napanee Raiders. Picton never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Pirates fell behind 3-0 after a goal by Napanee's Tyler Romain at 10:37 in the first period. Picton knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jack Davison at 13:30 in the second period. The Pirates scored the game winner at 14:05 in the second period on a goal by Davison. Davison had two goals to lead Picton to victory. The Pirates put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Raiders to score on any of their four power plays. Picton kept Napanee's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Copeland made 62 saves on 66 shots. The Pirates could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Picton additionally got points from Brian Bunnett, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ryan Sizer also scored for Picton. In addition, Picton received assists from Evan Greer, who had three and Steven Clarke, Taylor Brown, and Chris Jones, who each chipped in one. The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Picton was unable to stop Napanee from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Napanee could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. The Raiders were helped by Ryan Casselman, who finished with one goal. Casselman scored 7:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. Blade Grigg provided the assist. Napanee also got a goal from Chris Doyle as well. Other players who recorded assists for Napanee were Austin Boulard, who had two and Bud Norris and Murray Keenan, who contributed one a piece. Adam Wood made 38 saves for the Pirates on 41 shots. For Napanee, Boulard was ejected from the game.
