Horton nets hat trick, leads Amherstview to 9-3 win over Deseronto

Matt Horton lifted the Amherstview Jets to a 9-3 victory with a hat trick against the Deseronto Storm.

Horton's first goal came 17:21 into the second period. He then added goals at 17:54 into the second and at 19:33 into the second.

Amherstview's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Deseronto power plays. The Jets forced Deseronto goalie Brock Tufts to work between the pipes, taking 63 shots. Amherstview outdid its season average for goals scored. The Jets average 4.0 goals per game.

Amherstview also got points from Zach Masterson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brody Taylor, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Amherstview also got a goal from Brett Yake as well. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Ben Bianco, who had four, Konnor Burtenshaw (APM), Kyle Pengelly, Ryan Poirier, Cody Jodoin, and Josh Leblanc, who each chipped in one, and Cody Stapley and Dustin Kennedy, who contributed two a piece.

The Storm's offense rang up 46 shots on Amherstview's net.

Deseronto was led by Josh Cameron, who racked up one goal and one assist. Cameron scored 18:28 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Amherstview. Mitchell Thompson picked up the assist. Others who scored for Deseronto included Chris Rogalsky and Jared Boomhower, who each put in one. More assists for Deseronto came via Riley Muise and Brett Bateman, who each chipped in one.

Troy Paquette made 43 saves for the Jets on 46 shots. Amherstview incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tufts recorded 54 saves for the Storm. Deseronto incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
