Schell stymies Amherstview, Port Hope wins 4-1

Branson Schell had a standout game with 35 saves, and the Port Hope Panthers beat the Amherstview Jets 4-1.

Port Hope's penalty kill excelled, as the Panthers gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Port Hope was paced by Scott Ferguson, who grabbed one goal. Ferguson scored 6:06 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Port Hope. Chandler Gillespie assisted on the tally.

Dylan Baxter also scored for Port Hope. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Connor Turland and Tanner Bowditch, who each chipped in one.

Amherstview managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Jets ended up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Amherstview's offense operated below it season average. The Jets put an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Panthers were unable to stop Amherstview from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jets eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Amherstview was led by Josh Leblanc, who scored the team's only goal. Leblanc scored on the power play 1:23 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Port Hope. The Jets had gained a power play chance when Andrew Oelkers was whistled for slashing. Zach Masterson picked up the assist.

Port Hope incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Trpy Paquette rejected 26 shots on goal for Amherstview.
