Port Hope blows out Campbellford, 5-1

The Port Hope Panthers were firing on all cylinders against the Campbellford Rebels, and when the final buzzer sounded Panthers emerged with a 5-1 win.

Dan Lagrois was all over the ice for Port Hope, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Lagrois scored the first of his two goals at 3:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Hope. Lagrois' next tally made the score 3-0 Port Hope with 36 seconds left in the second period. A hooking penalty on William Lameroux had put the Panthers on the power play. Kyle Sullivan provided the assist.

Campbellford was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Port Hope was able to score four times while on the power play.

The Panthers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Port Hope surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Panthers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Rebels to score on any of their seven power plays.

Port Hope additionally got points from Tanner Bowditch, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Tyler Davey, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jacob Spicer also scored for Port Hope. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Dylan Baxter, who had two and Chandler Gillespie and Mike Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Campbellford could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Rebels put an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. Campbellford struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for four opposing power plays.

Branson Schell made 20 saves for Port Hope on 21 shots. For the Panthers, Ryan Wilkinson was ejected from the game. Cole Mahoney recorded 17 saves for the Rebels.
