Amherstview rips Deseronto, 5-2Deseronto & District CC Fri, Nov 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amherstview Jets had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Deseronto Storm. Amherstview excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Jets' offense rang up 53 shots on Deseronto's net. Amherstview was helped by Cody Stapley, who grabbed one goal. Stapley scored 17:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amherstview. Cody Jodoin picked up the assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Matt Horton, who had two and Ben Bianco and Cassidy Bruni, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Kyle Pengelly and Josh Leblanc, who each chipped in one and Brett Yake and Brody Taylor, who contributed two a piece. The Storm put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jets to score on any of their three power plays. Amherstview was unable to stop Deseronto from sending pucks towards the net, and the Storm eventually piled up 56 shots on goal. Deseronto was led by Johnny Maracle, who grabbed one goal. Maracle scored 1:47 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Amherstview. Jack Garrow assisted on the tally. Deseronto also got a goal from Mitchell Thompson as well. More assists for Deseronto came via Brandon Turner and Brett Bateman, who each chipped in one. Trpy Paquette made 54 saves for the Jets on 56 shots. Amherstview incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Jets, Jodoin was ejected from the game. Brock Tufts rejected 48 shots on goal for the Storm. Deseronto incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
