Campbellford shrugs off penalties, upends Amherstview, 8-2Campbellford-Seymour CC Fri, Nov 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amherstview Jets failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Campbellford Rebels shook off a number of penalties to win, 8-2. Campbellford was paced by Mitchell Merry, who tallied one goal. Merry scored on the power play 4:12 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Campbellford. The Rebels had taken the advantage when Amherstview's Brody Taylor got sent off for slashing. jeremy dorghty picked up the assist. Campbellford made Jets' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 41 shots and forcing 33 saves. Trpy Paquette made 21 stops and Mark Bonner APM made 12. The Rebels' goal total was higher than their season average. Campbellford averages 4.9 goals per game. Team could not crack the Jets' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. The Rebels could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game. Campbellford also got points from Cole Hamilton, who also registered one goal and one assist, Andy Paul, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Mitch Burke, who also had one goal and one assist, Jordan Boutilier, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and dorghty, who also registered one goal and one assist. Kenny Turcotte also scored for Campbellford. More assists for Campbellford came via Joshua Leavey, who had two and Steven Clarke, Ryan Crowley, and Andrew Doxtator, who contributed one a piece. Amherstview's offense operated below it season average. The Jets put an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. Campbellford was unable to stop Amherstview from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jets eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.
