GAME RECAP

Hamilton lifts Campbellford over Napanee, 3-1

Strathcona Paper    Tue, Oct 29, 2013

The Campbellford Rebels relied on the scoring touch of Cole Hamilton, who netted two goals, to beat the Napanee Raiders, 3-1.

Hamilton scored on the power play at 3:31 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Campbellford and again while on the power play 14:07 into the third to make the score 3-1 Campbellford.

Campbellford's Cole Mahoney was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Mahoney will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.07.

The Rebels forced Napanee goalie Kyle Copeland to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Campbellford also got a goal from Jordan Boutilier as well. Other players who recorded assists for Campbellford were William Lameroux and Derek Shields, who each chipped in one and Steven Clarke and Ryan Crowley, who contributed two a piece.

The Raiders did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Napanee puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. The Raiders could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Napanee was led by Tyler Romain, who scored the team's only goal. Romain scored on the power play 10:55 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A tripping penalty on Shields had put the Raiders on the power play. Mason Conley assisted on the tally.

Campbellford incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Copeland rejected 40 shots on goal for Napanee. The Raiders registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
