Murduff's hat trick boosts Picton over Deseronto, 11-0Deseronto & District CC Fri, Oct 11, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Kenny Murduff was the highlight in Pirates' 11-0 win against the Deseronto Storm. Murduff got on the scoresheet 12:32 into the first period. He then added goals at zero seconds into the third and at 19:47 into the third.The Picton Pirates gained an early advantage, leading 5-0 by the end of the first period. Picton made Storm's goalies to work between the pipes, totaling 81 shots and forcing 70 saves. Brock Tufts made 55 stops and Shaun Hadley made 15. The Pirates managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Picton ended up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. The Pirates' defensive play was more effective than usual against Deseronto. Picton averages 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Pirates surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Picton has scored at the pace of 5.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Picton additionally got points from Nolan Van Vlack, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jack Davison, who also tallied one goal and three assists, Brian Bunnett, who also racked up two goals and three assists to lead the team in points, Evan Greer, who also finished with one goal and three assists, and Ryan Sizer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Picton also got a goal from Curtis Smith APM as well. In addition, Picton received assists from Devin McCann, who had two and Cody Harrison and Taylor Brown, who each chipped in one.
