Murduff lifts Picton over Napanee, 5-2

Kenny Murduff had two goals to lead the Picton Pirates to a 5-2 victory over the Napanee Raiders.

Murduff's tallies came at 4:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Picton and 7:34 into the second to make the score 3-1 Picton.

Picton forced Napanee goalie Josh Lasher to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Picton also had goals scored by Ryan Sizer, who had one and Evan Greer, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Geoff Cleminson, Taylor Brown, Chris Jones, and Brent Maracle, who contributed one a piece and Brandon Peever and Brian Bunnett, who each chipped in three.

The Raiders were held below their usual level of production. Napanee averages 5.2 goals per game.

The Raiders were helped by Tyler Romain, who finished with one goal. Romain scored on the power play 14:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Napanee had gotten the advantage when the Pirates' Greer was sent off for roughing. Bud Norris assisted on the tally. Napanee also got points from Norris, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Napanee received assists from Pascal DiRocco, Ryan Casselman, and Jordan Cannons, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Pearson rejected 24 shots on goal for Picton. The Pirates incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lasher recorded 36 saves for the Raiders. Napanee incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
