Napanee blows out Deseronto, 9-3

The Napanee Raiders had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-3 win over the Deseronto Storm.

Napanee got the win behind a great game by Blade Grigg, who had two goals and one assist. Grigg scored the first of his two goals at 2:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. Tyler Romain picked up the assist. Grigg's next tally made the score 9-2 Napanee with 6:55 left in the third period. Josh St.Peter assisted on the tally.

The Raiders pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 52 penalty minutes.

Napanee forced Deseronto goalie Shaun Hadley to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Raiders bested their season scoring average. Napanee averages 5.8 goals per game. The Raiders were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of 10 man advantages.

Napanee also got points from Alex Leclerc, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Romain, who also had two goals and one assist, and Jordan Cannons, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Napanee also got a goal from Jake Falcao as well. Other players who recorded assists for Napanee were Bud Norris, Ryan Casselman, and Brady Butts, who contributed one a piece and Austin Boulard and Cullen Hinds, who each chipped in two.

Napanee was unable to stop the Storm from sending pucks towards the net, and Deseronto eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Storm could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 64 minutes in penalties during the game.

Deseronto was led by Jared Boomhower, who finished with three goals. More assists for Deseronto came via Chris Rogalsky and Mitch Burkitt, who contributed one a piece.

Kyle Copeland rejected 28 shots on goal for the Raiders. For Napanee, Boulard was ejected from the game. Hadley recorded 32 saves for the Storm. Deseronto registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Storm ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitchell Thompson was ejected from the game.
