Picton beats Campbellford 9-2 as Bunnett gets hat trick

Brian Bunnett netted a hat trick to lead the Picton Pirates over the Campbellford Rebels, 9-2.

Bunnett got on the scoresheet 4:14 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:11 into the second and at 1:18 into the third.

Picton made Campbellford's goalies to work without much rest, getting 38 shots and forcing 29 saves. Kevin Valdas made 18 stops and Cole Mahoney made 11. The Pirates' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Picton averages 6.0 goals per contest.

Picton also got points from Jack Davison, who also tallied two goals and two assists. Picton also had goals scored by Evan Greer, who had two and Devin McCann and Kenny Murduff, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Garrett Nichol, who had two, Ryan Sizer, who had four, and Steven Clarke, Brandon Peever, Cody Harrison, Geoff Cleminson, Matt Whidden, Taylor Brown, Chris Jones, and Griffin McCarty, who contributed one a piece.

The Rebels were led by Jordan Boutilier, who racked up one goal and one assist. Boutilier scored 5:05 into the third period to make the score 8-1 Picton. jeremy dorghty also scored for Campbellford.

Adam Wood recorded 24 saves for the Pirates. Picton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities. Campbellford incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
