Port Hope outlasts Campbellford, 3-2

The Port Hope Panthers and the Campbellford Rebels were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Port Hope made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Kyle Sullivan at 18:33 of the third period.

The Panthers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Port Hope was led by Sullivan, who racked up one goal.

The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Port Hope kept Campbellford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Mahoney made 35 saves on 38 shots.

Port Hope also had goals scored by Jacob Spicer and Chandler Gillespie, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Dan Lagrois, who had two and Josh Fulford, Mike Smith, and Scott Ferguson, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Campbellford averages 4.1 goals per game. The Rebels' offense rang up 32 shots on the Panthers' net.

Campbellford was helped by Jordan Boutilier, who registered one goal. Boutilier scored short handed 4:16 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The Rebels were on a disadvantage when Joshua Leavey went off the ice for kneeing. Ryan Crowley picked up the assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Jon Samis as well. In addition, Campbellford received assists from William Lameroux, who had one.

Brandon Green recorded 30 saves for Port Hope. The Panthers registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Campbellford incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
