Port Hope erases deficit to stun Campbellford, 3-2

The Campbellford Rebels could not hold down the Port Hope Panthers, and Panthers erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 win.

Port Hope never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Panthers was down 2-0 after a power play goal by Campbellford's Joshua Leavey at 15:35 in the first period. Port Hope knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Jacob Spicer at 8:55 in the third period. The Panthers netted the game winner at 15:24 in the third period on a goal by Spicer.

In a losing effort, the Rebels were led by Leavey, who finished with two goals. Leavey scored the first of his two goals at 6:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Campbellford. Jon Samis assisted on the tally. Leavey's next tally made the score Campbellford with 4:25 left in the first period. Campbellford earned a power play opportunity when Kyle Sullivan was put in the box for tripping. Cole Hamilton picked up the assist.

Port Hope was helped by Chandler Gillespie, who had one goal. Port Hope additionally got points from Tyler Davey, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Dylan Baxter, Tanner Bowditch, Dan Lagrois, Mike Smith, and Branson Schell, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels were held below their usual level of production. Campbellford puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game.

In addition, Campbellford received assists from Andrew Doxtator, who had one.

Schell recorded 19 saves for the Panthers. Port Hope incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Rebels' Kevin Valdas stopped 16 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Campbellford incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
