Amherstview rolls over Deseronto, 7-2WJ Henderson Rec. Centre Sun, Nov 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Deseronto Storm had trouble finding ways to stop the Amherstview Jets, which beat Storm, 7-2. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:07 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Deseronto was unable to stop Amherstview from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jets eventually piled up 58 shots on goal. Amherstview outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Jets average 4.2 goals per contest. Amherstview had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 12 chances. The Jets were led by Cassidy Bruni, who registered one goal and one assist. Bruni scored 16:12 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amherstview. Konnor Burtenshaw (APM) assisted on the tally. Amherstview additionally got points from Zach Masterson, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Cody Jodoin, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Dustin Kennedy, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Josh Leblanc, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Amherstview also got a goal from Ben Bianco as well. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Brody Taylor, who had two and Jesse Stone and Brett Yake, who contributed one a piece. The the Storm penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and three majors for 39 minutes in penalty time. Deseronto surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Storm were led by Mitchell Thompson, who racked up one goal. Thompson scored short handed 6:08 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Amherstview. Deseronto was on a disadvantage when Noah Sager went off the ice for holding. Johnny Maracle also scored for Deseronto. In addition, Deseronto received assists from Tyson OToole and Mitch Burkitt, who each chipped in one. Trpy Paquette recorded 20 saves for Amherstview. The Jets ended with 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors. Team's Burtenshaw (APM) and Kyle Pengelly were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Brock Tufts rejected 51 shots on goal for the Storm. Deseronto registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. For the Storm, Kirby Maracle, Chris Rogalsky, Brandon Turner, and Brett Bateman were ejected from the contest.
