Deseronto vanquishes Port Hope in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Deseronto Storm defeated the Port Hope Panthers in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout. Port Hope got a shootout goal from Tyler Davey. Deseronto's other shootout goal was scored by Mitchell Thompson.

The Storm came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Deseronto fell behind 3-0 after a power play goal by the Panthers' Chandler Gillespie at 11:38 in the second period. The Storm knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Thompson at 19:54 in the third period.

Thompson had a great game for Deseronto, netting two goals.

The Storm kept Port Hope's goalie busy throughout the game, and Branson Schell made 39 saves on 43 shots.

Deseronto also got a goal from Tyson OToole as well. Other players who recorded assists for Deseronto were Kirby Maracle and nick ferguson, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Deseronto to score on any of its five power plays. The Storm were unable to stop Port Hope from sending pucks towards the net, and the Panthers eventually piled up 55 shots on goal.

Davey also scored for Port Hope. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Dylan Baxter, who had two and Matt Trudel, Jacob Spicer, and Dan Lagrois, who contributed one a piece.

Deseronto's Matt Lovelys stopped 52 shots out of the 55 that he faced. The Storm incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Port Hope incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
