Amherstview survives Port Hope comeback, wins 6-4

The Port Hope Panthers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Amherstview Jets held on for a 6-4 victory.

Amherstview took a 6-3 lead during the second period, only to have Port Hope storm back on a Dan Lagrois goal 10:26 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

Cassidy Bruni was all over the ice for the Jets, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Bruni scored on the power play 7:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Amherstview had gained a power play chance when Matt Trudel was whistled for cross checking. Zach Masterson assisted on the tally.

The Jets made Panthers' goalies to work all game long, ripping 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Branson Schell made 30 stops and Brandon Green made zero.

Amherstview additionally got points from Andrew Fullerton, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Josh Leblanc, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Amherstview also got a goal from Brett Yake as well. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Ben Bianco and Cody Stapley, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers' offense rang up 49 shots on Amherstview's net.

Mike Smith also scored for Port Hope. More assists for Port Hope came via Josh Fulford, who had two, Jacob Spicer, who had three, and Tanner Bowditch, Tyler Davey, and Ryan Wilkinson, who contributed one a piece.

Trpy Paquette made 45 saves for the Jets on 49 shots. Amherstview incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Port Hope incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
