Deseronto wins tough contest against Port Hope, 3-2

The game between the Deseronto Storm and the Port Hope Panthers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Deseronto emerged with a 3-2 win.

The Storm gained the winning advantage on a goal by Mitch Burkitt 15:30 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

In the losing effort, Port Hope was paced by chris roy, who tallied two goals. Roy scored the first of his two goals at 11:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nick Jobb provided the assist. roy's next tally made the score 2-2 with 10:18 left in the third period. Tyler Davey picked up the assist.

Deseronto was led by Burkitt, who registered one goal.

The Storm excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Jared Boomhower also scored for Deseronto. In addition, Deseronto received assists from Kirby Maracle, Chris Rogalsky, and Logan Elliott APM, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Deseronto power plays. Port Hope was held below its usual level of production. The Panthers average 4.1 goals per game. Port Hope forced Deseronto goalie Matt Lovelys to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Josh Fulford, who had one.

Lovelys rejected 48 shots on goal for the Storm. Deseronto incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brandon Green recorded 23 saves for the Panthers. Port Hope incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
