Bunnett's big game bests Amherstview in 6-1 Picton win

Behind a great game by Brian Bunnett, who had one goal and two assists, the Picton Pirates defeated the Amherstview Jets, 6-1.

Bunnett scored on the power play 11:18 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Picton. Picton had gained a power play chance when Brody Taylor was whistled for interference. Kenny Murduff assisted on the tally. Bunnett dished an assist on Jack Davison's goal that made the score 4-1 Picton at 3:53 into the third period. He added another helper on Murduff's goal that made the score 5-1 Picton at 5:30 into the third period.

The Pirates pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Picton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Amherstview to score on any of its seven power plays. The Pirates kept the Jets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Trpy Paquette made 36 saves on 42 shots.

Picton additionally got points from Davison, who also registered one goal and two assists, Murduff, who also had two goals and one assist, and Ryan Sizer, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Picton also got a goal from Corey Prince as well. More assists for Picton came via Nolan Van Vlack, who had one and Brandon Peever, who had three.

Amherstview did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jets put an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

Amherstview was led by Cody Jodoin, who scored the team's only goal. Jodoin scored 13:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Picton. Josh Leblanc provided the assist.

Andrew Pearson made 24 saves for Picton on 25 shots. The Pirates registered two goals on five power play opportunities. The Jets incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
