Picton downs Amherstview, 5-2Empire Jr. C Sun, Sep 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Picton Pirates took home the 5-2 victory over the Amherstview Jets. Picton stifled Amherstview's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Pirates forced the Jets goalie Trpy Paquette to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Picton was helped by Ryan Sizer, who grabbed one goal. Sizer scored on the power play 6:45 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Picton. The Pirates had gotten the advantage when Amherstview's Zach Masterson was sent off for high sticking. Jack Davison assisted on the tally. Picton also got points from Davison, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Geoff Cleminson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Evan Greer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Picton also got a goal from Miles Levtov as well. In addition, Picton received assists from Brian Bunnett, who had two and Levi George, Kenny Murduff, and Chris Jones, who contributed one a piece. The Jets were held below their usual level of production. Amherstview puts an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. The Jets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game. Amherstview was led by Josh Leblanc, who finished with one goal. Leblanc scored 1:35 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Picton. Brett Yake picked up the assist. Cody Stapley also scored for Amherstview. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Jaylon Gorman and Cassidy Bruni, who each chipped in one. Andrew Pearson rejected 22 shots on goal for Picton. The Pirates incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Paquette recorded 31 saves for the Jets. Amherstview registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
