Georgina downs Little Britain in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Georgina Ice pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Little Britain Merchants on a clutch goal by Brandon Basler.

Georgina got the win behind a great game by Carver Ormiston, who had two goals and one assist. Ormiston scored the first of his two goals at 11:36 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Georgina. Cameron Nuttall assisted on the tally. Ormiston's next tally made the score 4-3 Georgina with 8:31 left in the second period. A holding penalty on Brent Foster had put the Ice on the power play. Brett thiessen provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:59 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Georgina forced Little Britain goalie Justus Husak to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. The Ice's goal total was higher than their season average. Georgina averages 2.3 goals per game.

Others who scored for Georgina included Aidan Comparelli, McKenzie Gray, and Jody Nonnewitz, who scored one goal each. In addition, Georgina received assists from Jonathon Colley, who had three and Brandon Brown and Bradley Evans APM, who contributed one a piece.

The Merchants' offense rang up 35 shots on the Ice's net. Little Britain bested its season scoring average. The Merchants have scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Little Britain could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Merchants were led by Kurtis Moore, who had two goals and two assists. Moore scored the first of his two goals at 10:23 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Foster assisted on the tally. Moore's next tally made the score 4-4 with 5:35 left in the second period. Aidan Renouf also scored for Little Britain. Other players who recorded assists for Little Britain were Lucas Hickey AP and Terry Snodden, who each chipped in two.

Tyler Richardson rejected 30 shots on goal for Georgina. The Ice totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 3-for-9 on the power play. For Georgina, Brown and thiessen were ejected from the contest. Justis Husak made 41 saves for Little Britain on 47 shots. The Merchants registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Team's Alex Moore, Ryan Hayden AP, and Pat Hamilton were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
