Lakefield beats Port Perry 4-3 after comeback scare

The Port Perry Mojacks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Lakefield Chiefs would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Nathan Larson put Lakefield up 4-2 in the second period, but Port Perry pulled to within one on Jeff St. Pierre's tally 12 seconds into the third period.

Larson had four goals to lead the Chiefs to victory. Larson's first goal came 11:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:55 into the second and at 16:46 into the second.

Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Travis Brault, who had two and Jordan Walsh and Eric Oosting, who each chipped in one.

The Mojacks stifled Lakefield's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Port Perry additionally got points from Lee Taylor, who also registered one goal and one assist and Kyle Powell, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Conner Shingler, who had one.

Kevin Collins rejected 24 shots on goal for the Chiefs. Lakefield incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Jeff Julien recorded 21 saves for Port Perry. The Mojacks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
