Uxbridge beats Port Perry 7-4 as Bierema gets hat trick

A hat trick by Tim Bierema was the highlight in Bruins' 7-4 win against the Port Perry Mojacks.

Bierema's first goal came 8:56 into the first period. He then added goals at 26 seconds into the second and at 6:21 into the second.

Port Perry's power play was ineffective against the Uxbridge Bruins' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Uxbridge made Mojacks' netminders to work all game long, launching 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Drew Siydock made 14 stops and Jeff Julien made 11. The Bruins bested their season scoring average. This season, Uxbridge averages 3.4 goals per contest. The Bruins struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 30 penalty minutes for nine opposing power plays.

Uxbridge also got points from Connor Beck, who also registered one goal and four assists to lead the team in points and Tyson Eastgate, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Uxbridge included Adam Bartholomew and Liam Blais APM, who each put in one. More assists for Uxbridge came via Carter Vahey, Matthew Allen, and Jarett Smith, who contributed one a piece and Connor Miller and Korey Brand, who each chipped in two.

The Mojacks found themselves short handed often, totaling 32 penalty minutes and allowing 10 power plays.

Port Perry was led by Lee Taylor, who finished with one goal and one assist. Taylor scored on the power play 13:16 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A holding penalty on Blais APM had put the Mojacks on the power play. Kyle Powell assisted on the tally. Port Perry additionally got points from Lucas Clark, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Port Perry also had goals scored by Conner Shingler and Brodie Meyers, who scored one goal each. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Lucas Berkers, Logan Evans, and Joe Lamanna, who contributed one a piece.

Cody Northover made 21 saves for Uxbridge on 25 shots. For Port Perry, Evans was ejected from the game.
