A hat trick by Mitchell Burghardt APM was the highlight in Eagles' 7-1 win against the Little Britain Merchants. Burghardt APM's first goal came 8:05 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:28 into the first and at 12:46 into the second.The Clarington Eagles' Connor Visca was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Visca managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.33 prior to the game. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:28 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Clarington made Merchants' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 59 shots and forcing 52 saves. Garrett Haden made 27 stops and Justus Husak made 25. The Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Little Britain to score on any of its three power plays. Clarington surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Eagles have scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Clarington also got points from Rory Craddock, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Riley O'Connell also scored for Clarington. In addition, Clarington received assists from Mitchell Marchbank, Jake Carier APM, Morisette APM Mack, and Dylan Howorko, who each chipped in one and Cody Kean and Blane Gaudon, who contributed three a piece. Little Britain also got a goal from Terry Snodden as well. Clarington totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Eagles ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and APM Mack was ejected from the game. The Merchants ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For Little Britain, Kyle ODonnell was ejected from the game.
