Uxbridge holds on for 4-3 win against LakefieldUxbridge Arena Fri, Jan 17, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Uxbridge Bruins survived a determined comeback attempt by the Lakefield Chiefs on the way to a 4-3 win. Uxbridge made the score 4-1 on a goal by Korey Brand at 4:34 in the third period, and Lakefield got as close as 4-3 when Nathan Larson scored 18:40 into the third period. The Bruins stifled the Chiefs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Uxbridge was led by Tim Bierema, who registered one goal and one assist. Bierema scored on the power play 9:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Uxbridge. The Bruins had taken the advantage when Lakefield's Gregory Jesse got sent off for high sticking. Carter Vahey provided the assist. Matthew Allen also scored for Uxbridge. More assists for Uxbridge came via Connor Miller, who had two and Connor Beck and Tyson Eastgate, who each chipped in one. The Chiefs did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Lakefield averages 5.3 goals per game. The Chiefs found themselves short handed often, totaling 32 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays. Lakefield also got points from Jesse, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Lakefield also got a goal from Devin Gilbert as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Nick Hildebrant, who had one and Derek Manley, who had two. Uxbridge incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Lakefield registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
