Port Perry rips Georgina, 5-1Georgina Ice Palace Fri, Jan 03, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Perry Mojacks had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Georgina Ice. Georgina was stymied by Port Perry netminder Drew Siydock, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Siydock certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.36 entering the contest. The Mojacks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes. Port Perry got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its 11 chances. The Mojacks were helped by Ryan Bernardes, who had one goal. Bernardes scored 10:31 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Perry. Eric MacDonald picked up the assist. Port Perry also got points from Logan Evans, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Conner Shingler, who also registered one goal and one assist. Port Perry also got a goal from Konrad Piorkowski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Ryan Nichols, Cody Gibson, and Brodie Meyers, who each chipped in one. The Ice stifled Port Perry's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgina could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. The Ice were led by Brandon Basler, who scored the team's only goal. Basler scored on the power play 12:38 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Port Perry. Georgina had gotten the advantage when the Mojacks' Lucas Berkers was sent off for slashing. Luke Vanderkooy provided the assist. Port Perry ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and MacDonald was ejected from the game. Tyler Richardson rejected 25 shots on goal for the Ice. Georgina registered one goal on eight power play opportunities.
