Hambly lifts Clarington over Little Britain, 7-2Garnet B. Rickard Rec Complex Sun, Dec 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Clarington Eagles relied on the scoring touch of Brent Hambly, who netted two goals, to beat the Little Britain Merchants, 7-2. Hambly scored at 9:11 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Clarington and again while 4:53 into the third to make the score 5-1 Clarington.Clarington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Little Britain power plays. The Eagles forced Little Britain goalie Garrett Haden to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Clarington found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Eagles average 3.8 goals per game. Clarington also got a goal from Mitchell Burghardt APM as well. In addition, Clarington received assists from Dylan Howorko, Cody Kean, Shawn Murza, and Brad Down, who contributed one a piece. The Merchants kept Clarington's goalie busy throughout the game, and CJ Sharp made 30 saves on 32 shots. Little Britain was led by Kurtis Moore, who had two goals. Moore scored the first of his two goals short handed at 15:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Merchants found themselves down a man on Kyle ODonnell's roughing. Moore's next tally short handed made the score 6-2 Clarington with 3:24 left in the third period. Terry Snodden provided the assist. The Eagles incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Clarington ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Blane Gaudon was ejected from the game. Haden rejected 28 shots on goal for Little Britain. The Merchants incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
