Manley nets hat trick, leads Lakefield to 11-2 win over Uxbridge

A hat trick by Derek Manley was the highlight in Chiefs' 11-2 win against the Uxbridge Bruins.

Manley got on the scoresheet 7:06 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:18 into the first and at 7:21 into the second.

The Lakefield Chiefs' penalty kill excelled, as Lakefield gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Chiefs made Uxbridge's goaltenders to work all game long, ripping 34 shots and forcing 23 saves. Max Tjin made 23 stops and Aaron Young APM made zero. Lakefield stifled the Bruins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Chiefs bested their season scoring average. This season, Lakefield averages 5.4 goals per contest.

Lakefield additionally got points from Jordan Walsh, who also registered one goal and three assists, Eric Shewell, who also tallied two goals and two assists, Nathan Larson, who also racked up two goals and three assists, and Travis Brault, who also had two goals and three assists. Lakefield also got a goal from Andrew Brown APM as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Ryan Saunders, who had two and Josh Duggan, Eric Oosting, and Connor Blair, who each chipped in one.

Uxbridge kept the Chiefs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zach Wainman made 29 saves on 31 shots. The Bruins struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Lakefield to score three power play goals on four chances.

Others who scored for Uxbridge included Connor Beck and Keegan McCarthy APM, who scored one goal each. More assists for Uxbridge came via Jason Simmonds, Carter Vahey, Justin Dube, and Dylan Locke, who contributed one a piece.

The Chiefs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Uxbridge incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
