Uxbridge survives Georgina comeback, wins 4-2

The Uxbridge Bruins came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Georgina Ice, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Uxbridge led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Bruins' Connor Miller's scored on the power play at 18:42 in the first period to put Uxbridge up 3-0.

Matthew Allen had two goals to lead the Bruins to victory. Allen's tallies came on the power play at 17:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Uxbridge and 13:19 into the second to make the score 4-2 Uxbridge.

Uxbridge's penalty kill excelled, as the Bruins gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

Uxbridge stifled Georgina's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice were unable to stop the Bruins from sending pucks towards the net, and Uxbridge eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Bruins were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 28 penalty minutes.

Uxbridge also got points from Miller, who also had one goal and one assist. Liam Blais APM also scored for Uxbridge. More assists for Uxbridge came via Jason Simmonds, Korey Brand, Connor Beck, Tim Bierema, and Jarett Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Georgina could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Ice were helped by Brett thiessen, who grabbed one goal. Thiessen scored 4:01 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Uxbridge. Luke Vanderkooy provided the assist. Georgina also got a goal from McKenzie Gray as well. In addition, Georgina received assists from JD Leblond and Kyle Bricknell, who each chipped in one.

Uxbridge's Max Tjin stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Bruins registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Tyler Richardson recorded 27 saves for Georgina.
