Lakefield downs Little Britain, 5-2

The Lakefield Chiefs took home the 5-2 victory over the Little Britain Merchants.

Little Britain was unable to stop Lakefield from sending pucks towards the net, and the Chiefs eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Lakefield could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Chiefs were helped by Nathan Larson, who racked up one goal. Larson scored 17:43 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lakefield. Jordan Walsh picked up the assist. Lakefield additionally got points from Mitch Stewart, who also had one goal and one assist, Walsh, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Ryan Saunders, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Lakefield also got a goal from Keenan Runnalis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Gregory Jesse, who had two and Josh Duggan, William Sullivan, and Travis Brault, who each chipped in one.

The Merchants' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Lakefield power plays. Little Britain could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Merchants were helped by Terry Snodden, who finished with one goal and one assist. Snodden scored on the power play 15:48 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Lakefield. Little Britain had gained a power play chance when Jesse was whistled for roughing. Kurtis Moore provided the assist. Rory McDowell also scored for Little Britain.

Lakefield's Zach Wainman stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Garrett Haden made 37 saves for the Merchants on 42 shots. Little Britain registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
